In The Event Of Pandemic Flu

What you need to know: An Influenza (Flu) Pandemic is a widespread outbreak of respiratory disease that occurs when a new flu virus appears.

To Prevent Spread of Illness

  • Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water
  • Stay at home if you are sick.

Stay Calm. Local area health and emergency preparedness officials have procedures in place to protect and care for you and your family, remember when acesssing information, lines may be busy with a high volume of calls.

Remain at home. Do not immediately go to hospitals as you may put yourself t risk. Listen to local radio/TV stations for instructions.

Carefully follow instructions from local authorities including when and where to report acute illness.

Be Prepared - Pretend with your family that you have to practice "self-survival" for 5 - 7 days - what might you need? Non-perishable food and water, cash money, a good first aid kit, flashlights and battery powered radio, etc.


Some services may be interrupted or overwhelmed! These could include hospitals and other health care facilities, banks, stores, restaurants, government offices, post offices, utilities and even, fire, police and ambulances.
