Communicable and Chronic Disease Program
The TAHD follows up on certain reportable diseases. Our goal is to protect the public and prevent epidemics by working to control the spread of infectious diseases such as meningitis and tuberculosis (TB). Educational fact sheets are available from the TAHD and Connecticut Department of Public Health. Statistics are gathered to monitor the health of our community. Health Education information on a variety of topics is also offered.
Every health care provider who treats or examines any person who has or is suspected to have a reportable disease shall report the case to the local director of health or other health authority within whose jurisdiction the patient resides and to the Department of Public Health.
